Abeo won Global Cleantech Open
Abeo once again confirmed the massive potential of their concrete technology by winning the Global Cleantech Open in Silicon Valley. Their five minute pitch was delivered at the award ceremony in front of more than 1200 international investors and resulted in a substantial victory.
Abeo has developed a cost-efficient concrete technology and building method consisting of a skeleton of medium to strong concrete in combination with an external layer of very light concrete. The technology promises to half the overall construction weight while lowering material cost and reducing Co2 emissions from production, transport and construction.
"Yes! This victory is certainly a gigantic pad on the back for the entire Danish Cleantech industry, which confirms yet again that Denmark has special competencies within this area - we are so to speak in the Cleantech majors. Also it is very positive that such young companies are paving the way. It is of great importance, if we wish to maintain our position in the years to come", says Anders Hoffmann, VP at EBST, who together with Venture Cup had arranged the Danish leg of the Cleantech awards, which two weeks ago ended with the selection of Abeo.
"This is such a significant achievement. To be exposed like this in front of an international crowd, is so important when your idea has global potential", says Jakob Steen Jensen, Investment Manager at SEED Capital and chairman at Abeo A/S. And the sheer number of collected business cards shows that the trip has not been in vain.
"Some of the biggest capital players in America have shown interest and that says a lot - even if we are not currently on the lookout for capital".
