Pure taste of umami attracts investment
2012-06-13
Today’s food industry adds huge amounts of additives into their products in their effort to produce better flavor in readymade dishes, soups, etc. Also the industry tends to use artificial flavor enhancers, which are criticized for providing a flat and simplistic taste.
The company Carnad produces stock based entirely on natural ingredients. Carnads stocks first and foremost provide a superior taste experience where especially the umami - the fifth basic taste - is predominant. In addition, the product is free of additives and is therefore a "clean label" product.
Carnad has attracted an investment from Seed Capital, which sees great potential in the company. The investment provides additional resources for primary marketing and sales.
Tore Sylvester Jeppesen, Investment Manager, SEED Capital: "There is a prevailing international trend towards pure quality products – so called ‘clean label’ products. Consumers and retailers increasingly demand these products. We look at Carnad as a superior product in this category”.
Johnny Koch, CEO Carnad: "We want to push for fewer additives and less salt in our food and we want to provide consumers with clean food with good taste. Our products allow consumers to both opt out of the many additives and experience the natural Umami taste from our stocks. We look forward to helping the markets for readymade meals and soups to deliver better and more natural products. "
