Stirling takes home main award at 2009 Climate Cup
Stirling could proudly receive a grand prize at this year's Climate Cup. Stirling Denmark has fifteen years of experience developing groundbreaking engines that can convert biomass such as wood shavings or hay, to CO2-neutral clean energy.
Stirling has with their innovative products, which extracts energy from biomass, positioned itself in a market with huge potential, and also shown that firms may be the driving force behind a more sustainable world.
The company received no less than two awards; the innovation award and the grand prize. Where the former deals with products or processes which have great potential in tackling the climate challenge, the latter is a general recognition of their work in their community and environmental benefits in a broader sense.
Director Lars Jagd is not in doubt that the niche market the company is in, has an enormous potential.
"We are in a strong competitive position. In the long term, there is an almost unlimited market, comparable to the market for wind turbines, "says Lars Jagd. "But I must also stress that there is a long way to go. We are in an industrial upscaling and it will not happen overnight. There must be hard work. "
The jury's reason for awarding Stiling: 'Stirling win because they have made great efforts in relation to creating solutions that can help establish more sustainable energy systems and to expand access to cleaner energy. The company has an opportunity to be part of tomorrow's green energy scenario, as it has potential to grow and become one of Denmark's new clean-tech giants.
"Climate Cup is a competition for Danish companies, organizations, municipalities, entrepreneurs, partnerships, etc.. That makes a difference for the climate and would like to tell about it.
