What is SEED Discovery day?

SEED Discovery Day is a pitch competition that celebrates fresh business ideas. 10 talents will present their startups in front of a jury of experienced entrepreneurs and investors. The most promising startup wins an investment of 500.000 DKK from Pre-Seed Innovation. The event is part of SEED Capital's Discovery program, which aims to strengthen companies at a very early stage.

You must live up to these criteria:

• You have to be based in Denmark or be willing to move your startup here
• Your company needs to be less than 12 months old (from CVR registration)
• Max DKK 50.000 in total revenue throughout the company's lifetime

When selecting the 10 competing startups we also find it important that:

• You have a skilled team
• The business idea is scalable and your potential market is large
• The product is in the market – or close to market launch

"Winning Discovery Day was the best thing that could have happened to us!"

Last year's winner was YourLocal,  an app that combats food waste, by giving users the chance to find stores with excess food on offer.

"Winning Discovery 2015 has really been the best thing that could happened to YourLocal!
The 500.000 gave us the opportunity to focus on improving our product and employ the right people to grow our start-up into a business. Money was only half the prize! Having SEED Capital as mentoring partners helping us with whatever we needed, helped us become who we are today. Before Discovery we had 3500 users, today we have 50.000! The money and guidance also helped us go from 35 collaborative stores to 350, and we are only getting started!"
